That’s my story,

“I was once a C-level manager in a tech company. I had a great vision for the company, but I was a bit of a control freak. I thought I knew everything, and I didn’t listen to my team.

“My team was made up of experienced and talented people, but they were starting to get frustrated. They felt like they weren’t being heard, and they were starting to lose their motivation.

“I was so focused on my own ideas that I didn’t even notice that the team had stopped listening. They were all just sitting there with their eyes glazed over, like they were in a trance. I thought, ‘This is great! They’re all so inspired by my vision!’ But then one of them raised her hand and said, Itay, we get it. You have a vision. But we also have ideas. Can we please share them?’

I was so embarrassed. I had been so caught up in my own ego that I had forgotten to listen to my team. But I’m glad she spoke up. It was a wake-up call for me, and it helped me to become a better leader.”

“So I started listening. I listened to their ideas, and I gave them more ownership over the company’s projects. And you know what? It worked.

The team started to feel like they were part of the process, and they started to contribute their ideas more often. Morale improved, productivity increased, and the company started to be more successful.

I learned a valuable lesson from this experience. I learned that listening to your team is essential for success. If you want to be a successful leader, you need to be able to listen to your team and give them a voice.
